Artist Statement

Human beings are social animals. We think and we communicate with each other. The theme of my work revolves around relationships and communication. Through the use of color, I wish to express the diverse emotions that arise out of human relationships, such as joy, despair, hatred, and love in my paintings. Ugly and beautiful colors always coexist. The world is not always wonderful or always miserable. In other words, one cannot know happiness if one has everything nor can one know sadness if one does not know happiness. Maturity arises out of living through both good and bad experiences.
I paint small creatures that reflect my interpretation of daily life. They seem innocent but are, in fact, wild. To represent our contemporary lives, I utilize techniques such as neat contour lines and colors that spill and overflow. I choose friendly subjects that are inspired by my relationship with others and convert them into a unique visual language.
